The refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers
and other vehicles of the Delta State Police Command have been commissioned by
the Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan at an event held at the Police
Headquarters, Asaba.

VT: Governor Uduaghan who was represented by his Deputy, Prof Amos Utuama
commended the state police command for the effort put in fighting crime in the
state.
He
said since assumption of office in 2007, his administration has given about one
hundred and ten vehicles, including two armoured personnel carriers to the
state police command.
The
governor called on politicians to stop politicising security issues.
On
his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikechukwu Aduba expressed
appreciation to the state government and delta state citizens for the support given
to the command in last few years.
Aduba said with the continued support of the
general public, the command will continue to be out there to prevent crime in
the state.
He
called on the vigilante groups in the state and other citizens in possession of
pump action rifles without approval from Mr President to desist from such act.
The
police boss stated that in the last two months, 201 suspected armed robbers/kidnappers,
murderers and cultists were arrested, 17 wounded in cross fires.
While,
10 kidnapped victims rescued, 23 arms recovered, 68 suspected stolen vehicles
and 5 motor cycles were recovered with N420, 000.00 cash.
The
CP also said that 20 cases have been charged to court with 31 convictions and 10 awaiting
trials during the said period.
