Pro-Ameachi Lawmakers defect to APC

News: Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi have declared their formal defection from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC). Leader of the Assembly, Chidi Lloyd who made the announcement on the floor of the House at old government house auditorium said he has the mandate of the twenty five Pro- Amaechi lawmakers to make the declaration. Mr Chidi Lloyd said henceforth any correspondence to them should be addressed APC and not PDP. Speaker Otelemaba Amachree while responding to the announcement insisted that a formal letter by the Lawmakers should get to him before Friday this week. In an interview with members of Assembly press corp, Deputy Speaker Leyii Kwanee said their decision was informed by the fact that they have been without a party since their suspension by PDP over a year ago. Hon. Kwanee who said the PDP has remained adamant in their matter maintained that there is no going back on their decision.
