
The former Edo State Governor, John Odigie Oyegun, is now the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
The former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Temipriye Silva who was one of the contenders stepped-down and Chief Tom Ikimi, a National leader of the APC and former Minister for Foreign Affairs during Late General Sanni Abacha regime, was absent at convention.
The emergence of Chief Oyegun as the APC national chairman took place at the National Convention of the party at Eagle Square, Abuja, in the early hours of
Saturday.
Chief Oyegun was the former governor of Edo State during Third Republic in 1993.
Also elected, were other national officers of the party during the party’s convention.
teemipluse2.blogspot.com reports that APC Governors, party chieftains and other delegates of the party across the federation were present at the convention.
The new chairman will conduct the affairs of the party through the 2015 general elections which the party is hoping to win across the country.
