Speaker
of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Tuesday visited
the National Blood Transfusion Centre in Abuja and donated blood to victims of
the Monday bomb explosion in Nyanya, Abuja.
Tambuwal,
who also visited the National Hospital, Abuja to sympathise with those
receiving treatment there, called on the political leaders in the country to
stop politicising issues of insecurity and take necessary actions to protect
lives and property of Nigeria citizens.
Speaking
shortly after being conducted round the wards in the National Hospital,
Tambuwal urged all political leaders to come together and support the
government in addressing the challenge of insecurity.
“We
should stop playing politics with issue of insecurity, from what I have seen
among the victims, I doubt if they are members of any political party, we
should stop playing politics, we should address the issue and it is not about
any religion. It is unfortunate, we must come together, we must rise to the
challenge and address this challenge,” he said.
It
was from the National Hospital that the speaker alongside other members of the
House of Representatives headed for the National Blood Transfusion Centre to
donate the blood. After donating the blood, he appealed to other Nigerians to
endeavour to do same. “I call on well-meaning Nigerians who have the capacity
to donate blood to please come out and donate blood ad whatever is required for
the survival of the victims,” he said..
On
what motivated him to donate blood to the victims, the Speaker said “I was
moved by humanity in him.”
